Overweight and doing something about it

Why?

On 04/15/07, my mother promised me $1,000 if I lost 30 lbs. This was after I told her I weighed 180, in reality I weigh 190. My goal weight is 140ish. To some people, those whose mothers’ doesnt wear a size O, this deal may sound unloving, brash, etc. To me, it’s my motivation.  I’ve been trying to get into my size 8 clothes for over a year and half now.

My plan is to eat less and workout more. That’s it, no gimicks I workout here during my lunch break and here either before or after work for my cardio.

My expecation of this blog is to chronicle my life until I reach my goals.

Also, I would like to quit smoking.

Good for you! And $1000 is a VERY nice incentive. And your mother just wants you to be happy. My mother has been trying to motivate me with such offers for years (although none as generous as $1000), with very little success. Last summer I got on a roll working out very hard and lost about 20 pounds before I lost steam. I’m trying to get back into it again so I can take off another 20, but lacking a little bit in the motivation department.

Anyway, good luck to you! Keep it up!

I’m not trying to lose weight, just tone and firm up what I’ve got. I’ve gotten soft in the past 7-8 months, and I’m officialy tired of it. I’m working out 3-4 days a week, and am about 5 weeks into it. I always expect immediate results and get pissed when I don’t get them. I just turned 28 in March, and I swear my metabolism has slowed down ten fold since last year at this time. Good luck to you! It IS a lifetime commitment.

    Sweet! That’s a great incentive.

Most people stop training because after a brief period of result producing exercises, they can no longer produce results. TRAINING HAS STALLED!

If you ever have any questions about training, dieting, nutrition, supplements, weight-loss, etc., please don’t hesitate to ask.

    Best of luck,

    A.M.
