Blah

May 8, 2007 · 2 Comments

Blah, a succinct adjective to describe yesterday. I was in a Blah-mood. I was trying to cut out all processed food for this week but really wasn’t successful. I munched on a bag of sunflower seeds (200 calories) all day and had a South Beach diet lunch (definitely processed food, but only 260 calories). I proceeded with my lunchtime cardio workout and did my strength-training exercises after work. I really think doing the strength training after work instead of lunchtime has cut down cravings. Afterwards, I cooked a dinner of a turkey-burger patty accompanied with a salad. Approximately thirty minutes later, I threw it all up. Nothing helped my tummy ache so I went to bed hungry and in pain and only consuming 460 calories all day, only to be awakened by the sound of my dog barking and the thunder and lightening resonating throughout my condo at 2 AM. Not good. I know it.

I had every intention of turning it around today. I packed a delicious lunch (leftover salad and chicken), cooked egg muffins for breakfast, pack three oranges all for my consumption through out my work day - only to leave it at home during my mad dash to my car. **Sigh**

So now, I’m munching on sunflower seeds and trying to figure out what I could possibly eat today.

Cinco de Mayo

May 5, 2007 · 4 Comments

I weighed myself today and I lost five pounds -despite the McDonalds, despite channeling David Hasselhoff during Happy Hour on Thursday. I’m not going to get too excited about the weight loss as it could be all a fluke. I did a total of 205 minutes of cardio this week! It wasn’t as difficult as I thought it would be. I did two sessions of my strength training class, I’m having problems with the arm curl machine, not that the weights are heavy, the machine is uncomfortable. I guess it has something to do with me being double jointed in my elbows, maybe not. I’m going to switch to free weights for my biceps.

My measurements are:
Height 5′7″
Chest 40.5 (under breasts 36): Waist 37; Hips 42.5
Arms: left upper arm 13; right upper arm 13.5
Legs: left upper thigh 25.5; right upper thigh 25.75
Size:14
Weight: 190

Next week, My goal is to wake up early enough to cook a nutritional breakfast.

Off subject - I’m to attend my first Indian wedding tonight. Exciting, no?

Daily Struggles

April 24, 2007 · 4 Comments

Let’s say if I committed some horrible crime and sentenced to death; my last meal would be a Whopper, with extra pickles, no onions and no tomatoes, with a side of baked mac and cheese, a slice of my grandma’s sweet potato pie and mash potatoes and a bottle of wine. If my dad were on death row, he’d add banana pudding to my meal above. My mother would just have kimchi and rice and my sister would have a piece of lettuce.

With that said, let me enlighten you to the struggle I face EVERY day. The place where I workout during my lunch break Monday thru Friday, has a BK in its strip mall. Yes, I go through physical and mental torture on a daily basis. I’m usually unaffected by the smell of flame-broiled burgers before my workout, however, when I’m done it is a completely different story. I literally sit in my car after my workout and an argument ensues between my brain and taste buds. Brain says “Stay strong, you don’t need it. Drink your water!” or “Remember, a moment on the lips, lifetime on the hips” and Taste buds counter with “How is one Whopper going to hurt? You just don’t eat for the rest of the day.” or “Get a Whopper Jr and it won’t be as bad.”  Usually, health-conscious mindset prevails, but someday, I fear, my willpower will go AWOL.

How do you guys get past cravings? Or better yet what would your last meal be?

Keep Keepin On

April 23, 2007 · 4 Comments

Well I guess I’m paying for the good time that was had this past weekend. I’m up on the scale, sheesh. I don’t understand how I can fluctuate five pounds over two days? I know I shouldn’t pay too much attention to the scale…., but damn! I’m not going to weigh myself for two weeks and my weight had better be down. With all this frustration, I’m even more determined to lose this weight. Stay tuned.

End of Day One

April 18, 2007 · 3 Comments

Good day. I’ve been snacking all day, but kept my total calorie count under 1400. So is this good or bad? I read somewhere that I should only snack/eat every three hours, so someone let me know. I worked out three times today, 30 minute spin class this morning and afternoon and a 30 minute weight training session. This is not going to be a regular occurance but felt like jump-starting my work outs. I seemed to have gained three pounds since Saturday…. how is this possible UGH! I thought about posting some before photos, but I don’t have enough courage yet.

I also created a profile here to help me monitor my caloric intake, not as user friendly as I hoped. Dallasmuffin is my profile name so look me up. Anyone know of a website where I could enter recipes and it would provide me with calories, protein, carbs, etc….

 Looking forward to tomorrow
